| Artwork Submission Guidelines |
If you are providing digital art files for LASER ENGRAVING, please consider these guidelines when preparing them:
- CLEAN VECTOR DRAWINGS will produce the best results. We operate mainly in Adobe Illustrator CS2 (.AI) and COREL DRAW x3 (.CDR). Illustrator/Corel files converted to Adobe PDF format also work well.
- EPS files may also be used, provided they are true VECTOR drawings and not BITMAPS.
- BITMAP images (.JPG, .BMP, .TIF, .PSD) are acceptable if you have no other formats available. For the best results, your bitmap images should be no smaller than 200% of the final size, at no less than 600 dpi resolution. Bear in mind that your file will have to be manually converted to a useable format, and will require extra setup time and fees.
- If need to submit your artwork in a HARD COPY format (i.e. a paper printout), remember that bigger is always better. Enlarge your black and white artwork to fill as much of an 8.5" by 11" sheet as possible, printed at the highest resolution your printer can manage.
If you are providing files for LASER CUTTING, we can import from most standard CAD formats (DXF, IGES, et al). We can also use Illustrator and Corel formats as described above. (Please note that these formats do not generate precise measurements--if needed, this information should be noted in the drawing.)
Other considerations:
- Shapes should be drawn as lines and arcs (no polylines)
- Drawings should be rendered as a single layer
- If possible, please include a printed dimensional drawing of your file, with all pertinent measurements and tolerances indicated.
If you are submitting artwork for LASER CELS, please note the following:
- Image should be at least 300 dpi at the desired final print size
- You should set the height and width at least 1/4" larger (1/8" on all sides) than the intended mat opening, to allow for printing/assembly shift
- Please save your image in Photoshop (.psd) CS2 or lower whenever possible. JPG, TIF, BMP or PDF files are also acceptable
If you have any other questions regarding artwork preparation, please contact us and we will do our best to help!
